Audition Preparation
Please read this important information about this year's auditions.
This year's production is a large and challenging show, and we have an incredibly talented group of students auditioning. Because of that, preparation will be an important part of the audition process. Each character guide has been created to help you prepare for the role you are interested in. Inside each guide, you will find:
- Song suggestions to help you choose appropriate material for your audition
- A monologue specific to the character that you can use to practice your acting
- Character information and relationships to help you understand the role
- Tips and qualities we are looking for in each character
SONG PREPARATION
The songs listed in the character guides are suggestions, not requirements. You are welcome to choose another song that showcases your voice and fits the character you are auditioning for.
However, you should arrive with a song prepared if you would like to be considered for a principal or featured role.
If you are unable to prepare a song for your audition, that's okay. However, because we want to make sure students have the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, students who come without prepared material will be considered for ensemble rather than principal or featured roles.
This isn't about having the perfect song or being a perfect singer. It's about giving yourself the opportunity to show us what you can do.
MONOLOGUE PREPARATION
The monologue included in your character guide is there to help you practice and prepare for your audition. You are not required to memorize it. You may memorize it if you feel comfortable doing so, but you are also welcome to read from the provided monologue during your audition.
What matters most is that you understand the character, make strong choices, and tell the story.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
You do not have to be perfect.
We are not expecting professional-level performers. We are looking for students who come prepared, are willing to take direction, make strong choices, and show us what they can bring to the role.
Take the time to prepare and come ready to perform!
We can't wait to see what you bring to Frozen.
